Pilgrimage Tour Brussels

(Almost) largest church in the world

During our Brussels city tour, we’ll visit the Brussels Cathedral of Saint Michael and Saint Gudula and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Koekelberg. They are among the largest churches in the world.

Next stop will be Tremelo, the birthplace of Father Damien, famous for his work in the Molokai leper colony. We’ll take some time to look at the Father Damien museum, and will be hosted by a resident monk. One of the best-known pilgrimage sites is Scherpenheuvel, where we’ll visit the Basilica of our Lady of Scherpenheuvel.

We’ll continue our pilgrimage tour to Belgium with a visit to the Norbertine Abbey of Averbode, impressively towering above a forest.

Apparitions at Banneux, Belgium and La Merveilleuse in Dinant

The eight apparitions of Mary, as witnessed by an eleven-year-old girl in 1933, inspired the creation of this Marian shrine. The picturesque village of Dinant is famous for its citadel, church and natural caves (called La Merveilleuse).

To honour Our Lady of Lourdes, a noble woman in Oostakker-Lourdes, took it upon herself to build a cave in her garden that inspired a now well-known pilgrimage.
